Designing for the educational publishing field was an exciting and rewarding endeavor. Working primarily in the K-12 market, I learned how to visually communicate in ways that would allow for quick and concise comprehension of difficult or abstract concepts in math, science, and social studies. Other areas of practice included developing usable and effective experience pedagogy through the use of page elements and direction, both for teachers and students. Over the course of 20+ years, I participated in the development of dozens of programs, many of which were science based. Most notably, and a highlight in my experience, was building roles for myself as an Illustration Designer and, then later, as a Creative Lead. I worked with the entire editorial and design team, negotiating and directing our outside illustration and photography vendors, ensuring consistent results that told great stories.
